Care To Play Therapy

Children's therapy through play!

New practice located in Dublin

What is Play Therapy?

Play therapy is to children what counselling is to adults. Play therapy utilises a wide range of play and creative arts to help children express their feelings through materials instead of words.

It is a form of counselling or psychotherapy in which play is used as a means of helping children communicate their emotions. It enables the therapist to use play to uncover and help the client to deal with challenging issues and therefore Play Therapy can be a particularly helpful approach for children and their families in need of therapeutic support.

Initial Assessment

The therapist will complete an intake assessment to understand how the current difficulties may have developed and are maintained within the various contexts of your child’s life. The results of this assessment may be shared with you, and a treatment plan will be developed including some potential goals for therapy, and the strategies that may be used to help your child reach the goals. Throughout the therapy you are invited to share any concerns or questions that you may have about the therapy process. This helps the therapist to personalise the treatment strategies to better match your child’s unique needs.
